Deputy SG
Three years ago, I stood before a committee, scared, nervous, and unsure of how to deliver a speech. After the closing ceremony, I got on the bus, sure that this was my first and last experience with MUN, but seeing how happy my classmates were alongside the other delegates on the bus made me certain that I was looking at MUN from the wrong perspective. I should've realized that MUN is about learning, debating, meeting new people, and having fun, so I went home and decided not to give up.
So, with determination and hard work, I completely changed the way I viewed MUN until I came to a point where I fell in love with MUN and its community. MUN allowed me to grow, learn, and become a much more educated and happy person. It also introduced me to many wonderful people whom I now consider my best friends.
So I decided to give back to the community that gave me so much, so today I am co-founding and serving as SG for you delegates so that I can do everything in my power to give you the same experience, to provide you with a space where you can grow and express yourself creatively through debate.
So what I ask of you, especially if this is your first conference, is to learn from my mistake and come to this conference with the intention of improving, debating, and having fun.
It is heart-warming to sit back and reflect on everything I’ve been through in the past three years of MUN. I always loved to speak, but at first I never had the courage to actually do it, until Debating and MUN entered my life. I was empowered. I was allowed to express myself, no, taught to express myself, in ways I never imagined possible. That feeling you get when you finally take the chance, when you step up, when you lead the way for others to follow… that indescribable rush has guided me throughout my entire MUN journey.
Ever since my first speech, when my heart was beating faster than a supernova expansion, I realized that I was utterly terrified, but also completely alive. Over these three years, MUN has given me a life I never expected to live and surrounded me with people I never imagined I would one day call my best friends.
This year, it is my duty to give back to the MUN community, the very same community I fell in love with as a kid in ninth grade. It is an honor to conclude this breathtaking journey by co-founding and serving as ASG of the first ever MUN conference at my school, the place that first ignited my passion for diplomacy, the place that has been my second home for the past twelve years. Twelve years of growing here, and three years of MUN experience poured into this conference, all so that you, the delegates, have the chance to grow just as I did.
I truly see a part of myself in each and every one of you. And I want for you what I have always wanted for myself, the very best. And I hope that JOSMUN 2026 becomes exactly that.
It is a privilege to serve as the Deputy SG for JOSMUN 2026. What began as simple curiosity quickly grew into a passion for debate, diplomacy, and finding my voice. My goal this year is to help every delegate feel the confidence, excitement, and purpose that MUN can offer. Step into your committees with ideas, and step out knowing that your words truly matter. Welcome to JOSMUN 2026, your journey starts now.
Hi, I am Sami your favorite DSG! love debate, organizing and I am obsessed with solving problems. I always pretend that I am not stressed, but I am though. I love drama because who doesn’t ? (please be dramatic). And lastly, have an amazing experience as delegates, wish you the best!
